I was with my 50mm lens no zoom … so I had to walk up real close …
I was amazed how it just stood there and let me take pictures

Coeur copulatoire d’agrions élégant (Ischnura elegans)
Les libellules sont liées, de par leur vie larvaire, aux milieux aquatiques (rivières et fleuves, mares, marais, étangs…). Avant l’accouplement, le mâle attrape la femelle derrière la tête grâce à une petite pince située à l’extrémité de son abdomen (les cerques) et ne la lâche plus. L’appendice copulatoire de la femelle se situe à l’extrémité de son abdomen, celui du mâle sur la face ventrale d’un segment beaucoup plus proche du thorax (2ème segment). Ceci explique que lors de l’accouplement, se dessine une forme de cœur.
Après l’accouplement, la femelle dépose ses œufs soit en les insérant dans les plantes soit en les abandonnant dans l’eau.
